Nominate a Hometown Hero

A Hometown Hero could be a volunteer firefighter or emergency medical rescue worker you know who puts himself/herself at risk for the sake of the community. This person exemplifies personal character qualities like courage, strength and neighborhood spirit.

Nominate a High School Hero

High school seniors who are legal U.S. residents are eligible to apply or be nominated. Scholarships will be awarded based on the following:

  1. Activities: List up to three volunteer service activities in which the student has participated without pay during grades 9-12. For each of the three activities, include:
    • The specific name and purpose of the organization.
    • Total estimated number of volunteer hours to date with each organization.
    • A brief description of the student’s role as a volunteer.
  2. Involvement & Impact: Focusing on just one of the three activities, describe how the student’s involvement made a difference in the organization or impacted the community.
  3. Meaning: In 50 words or less, describe how the student was affected by the volunteer experience. What was one key idea, concept or value learned?

High School Heroes scholarship winners may be recognized with media coverage and on Unicel’s website, www.unicel.com.
