High School Heroes Scholarship Program

In June 2008, Unicel will award "High School Heroes" scholarships to ten high school seniors. Unicel is committed to community service and recognizes and thanks students who volunteer their time and talents. Scholarships, each in the amount of $2,000, will be given to outstanding high school seniors who have been engaged in volunteering throughout the company’s operating regions.

Unicel thanks all young volunteers across the U.S. You make a difference! The deadline for 2008 nominations has passed.

Hometown Heroes

The company would like to acknowledge all volunteers and community-minded citizens who show the courage, strength and neighborhood spirit that are vital to protecting the American way of life. In particular, firefighters and emergency personnel, the front-line defenders for our way of life, are our "Hometown Heroes."

Highlights of the annual Hometown Heroes program include:

  • Hometown Heroes nominated by local fire chiefs or community members.
  • The Hometown Heroes nominees have not necessarily made dramatic rescues; rather, they exemplify personal character qualities like courage, community spirit, strength, caring, warmth and humility.
  • A $250 donation to each Hometown Hero's fire department or to the charity of his/her choice.
  • Celebrations to honor local Hometown Heroes.
  • Distribution of fire safety educational materials.
